This article from Barron's Financial shows how the financial markets use insurance contracts to not only attempt to cover losses, but as profit centers themselves. Unfortunately, when you are using a captive insurer to do so, the protection might not be adequate for the task.
Looks like Wall Street will show even worse losses another couple of quarters, very unexpectedly . . . .
