Gravestone Doji

A Candlestick chart pattern represented by a bar that contains identical open and close prices occuring at the low of the day.

Dark Cloud Cover

A Candlestick Chart pattern that signals a bearish trend, where a black candlestick forms just after a long white Candlestick.

Island Reversal

A Candlestick chart pattern where a security's price gaps up or down, moves hgher than this price, then gaps up or down below the starting price.

Hook Reversal

Bearish Engulfing Pattern

A Candlestick price chart pattern where a large black candlestick fully engulfs a small white candlestick appearing just prior.

A Candlestick price chart pattern where a small black candlestick is followed by a large white candlestick that engulfs the candlestick bar preceding it.

Cash Dividend

A cash distribution to the shareholders of a corporation, based on profitability and board of directors decisions.

A Certificate of Deposit that defers interest payment until maturity.

Descending Triangle

A chart pattern for a security that is defined by the use of two Trendlines on either side of a series of high and low prices that looks similar to a triangle pointed to the right.

Logarithmic Chart

A chart where price scale is skewed so that a specific distance represents a fixed change in price. Commonly used to express exponential changes in the magnitude of numbers (prices).

Inflection Point

A circumstance that influences change in a company's progress, for better or worse.


A class of stock shares where the next dividend is assigned to the seller, not the buyer.

Preemptive Right

A clause for select shareholders of a corporation that provides the right to maintain percentage ownership of a company through purchasing a proportionate amount of shares of any future shares issuance of the security.

Options Clearing Corporation

A clearing firm collectively owned by the major exchanges of the listed options.

Option Series

A collection of calls and puts that have the same unit of trading, expiration and strike prce on the same underlying security.
