Lind-Waldock has been a leading brokerage firm in the futures industry for nearly 45 years so it should come as no surprise that it is also a leader in offering a wide array of trading platforms to match the needs of almost any trader.

Founded in 1965 by Barry Lind, who helped build the Chicago Mercantile Exchange into the world.s biggest futures exchange, and Jack Waldock, who made his mark in the meat packing industry, Lind-Waldock was the first futures brokerage firm to offer discount commissions and, to accommodate its individual traders, the first to develop its own order-routing system to U.S. exchange floors.

Realizing the need to continue providing its customers with personalized, automated trading features and fast, reliable data, Lind-Waldock now gives traders market access with a variety of platforms:

LindConnect -- browser-based system allowing trades from any computer with an internet connection.

Lind Xpress -- a dynamic direct-access application that includes charting and analytical capabilities in addition to order entry.

Lind Wireless -- allows trading access for the busy trader on the go.

Lind Sim Trade -- a simulated trading experience paper trading a $50,000 account in a real pricing environment for 15 days.

eSignal at Lind -- allows trading a Lind account right from an eSignal chart.

Strategy Runner Pro and Strategy Runner Lite -- more sophisticated, personalized platforms.

Wizertrade Commodities --. allows trading a Lind account from the Wizetrade application.

Genesis Trade Navigator Lite, Standard and Professional -- platforms linking a Lind account to another data service.

Lind Elite -- As its name implies, this is the top of the line. Lind Elite features all of the state-of-the-art tools for customized, automated trading and real-time market analysis. Lind Elite is powered by Avadhi Finance and Technology using real-time data provided by BarCharts, a firm that dates back to 1934.

Lind Elite has all of the charting and price ladder features, technical indicators, accounting functions and order-entry formats that one would expect in a sophisticated trading platform and handles trades and fills quickly and easily.

For any trading newcomer being introduced to a new trading platform for the first time, there is always a learning curve. Lind Elite is no exception and because it offers so many features, it may take a while for a trader to discover all of its capabilities and to get the most out of its features. Not everything is intuitive, such as its symbol conversions, and it doesn't trade everything, such as the new CME Group micro forex futures. However, if a trader does run into any snags, Lind-Waldock has a special Lind Elite help center, and the folks at Avadhi are also very helpful.

For the active trader looking to automate a trading strategy, one of the neatest features of Lind Elite is S.E.M.E. - single entry, multiple exits. A trader can set up exact conditions for getting into a trade and then, once in the trade, getting out with predetermined profit or loss objectives, using one-cancels-the-other or other types of orders that provide flexibility in a variety of market settings.

When similar trading situations occur, the trader doesn't have to recreate the order process from scratch but can save the parameters as a strategy that can be applied to other trading opportunities with just a click of the mouse. This automated feature can come in very handy in fast-moving conditions or in active overnight markets such as forex - assuming the strategy is sound and a trader has the discipline to implement the strategy operate as designed.

For example, as a trader I use VantagePoint indicators such as the predicted next day high or next day low to develop an intraday trading strategy and determine precise points at which to place buy or sell orders. Then putting those orders on a Lind Elite chart or ladder gets those orders executed efficiently as the trading day unfolds and keeps the trader posted on the status of an open position at all times.

Of course, a VantagePoint-Lind Elite combination cannot guarantee trading success, but when a trader has developed a profitable strategy, an important consideration is instant execution when and where the strategy signals. That's what Lind Elite provides. Lind Elite does cost $25 a month (no charge for active traders of more than 50 round-turns a month), but this powerful platform is well worth the price.

Lind Waldock also has a strong commitment to educating traders. In January 2009 Lind Waldock joined www.TraderPlanet.com as a Conqueror Member and has contributed educational resources to the community that have been very well received.
