Beginner Trader here...
What's a website or software package that's free or really cheap to get started with? Right now I'm in a research phase on stocks. I wouldn't mind some graphing or trending software that I can just run and watch to see how the market changes from day to day.

Hi Tim,
If you follow this link: Welcome to Tricom Trader
you can download free trading software which gives you a charting and execution package. From there you get $100k funded demo account, so not only do you get charts for stocks (globally) you also get futures, FX and CFDs. You can then place dummy trades to see how you would've gone if it was real money - great for testing a trading system or paper trading.

Hey thanks for the info. I'll have to check these references out when I get home tonight. I'll probably have a bunch more questions :)
Thanks again!
Hi Tim & TW,
IncredibleCharts are also free. They also have an excellent library with most of the indicators discribed including trading techniques. They also have a traders forum. There is also a free newsletter from Colin Twiggs. He explains his own trading technique etc etc.

Hi Tim, I use ProRealTime Charts and find them excellent and very user friendly. You can gain free access for end of day data. Bigcharts.com is also excellent and much simpler to use. Bigcharts will also update intraday [for free]. Perhaps begin with Bigcharts to get a feel for charting?
Cheers, Uturn
Prophet has great charts and they are FREE!!
