Investment Advisor

An individual or firm that provides investment recommendations or analysis for a fee, to clients. U.S. based investment advisers must register with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Investment Grade

Rating system for stocks or bonds designated as lower risk for investors. 

iShares

A collection of Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) adminstrated by BlackRock. 

Island Reversal

A Candlestick chart pattern where a security’s price gaps up or down, moves hgher than this price, then gaps up or down below the starting price.

Issued Stock

The complete amount of stock shares sold and held by shareholders which include company insiders and the public.

Junk Bond

Alternative term for High Yield Bond — they carry the lowest credit rating and are usually issued by companies in financial chaos. Higher yields are offered to offset the high risk.

K Ratio

Designed by Lars Kestner, its a technical indicator that compares a security’s return over time against risk.

Keltner Channel

Designed by Chester Keltner, this is a technical indicator that applies Average True Range to an Exponential Moving Average and plots the results above and below price data, appearing as a channel.

Keogh Plan

A type of retirement pension plan designed for self-employed individuals or small businesses with tax deferment benefits.

Key Reversal

A price chart pattern occurring with stocks where the Open price is above the previous day’s High, continues to rise, then falls below the previous day’s Low OR Open price is lower than previous day’s Low, continues to decline, then rebounds to exceed the previous day’s High.
