Let’s go straight to the heart of the matter: No, it is not your fear of losing, it isn’t your inability to read the market correctly, nor is it your lack of charting knowledge that causes your trading difficulties.

In a nutshell: The number one reason for all your problems revolves around the fact that you have reality back to front.

What do I mean by that? If you never read an article from me before what you are about to learn may well be a bit of a shock. I know most of you have probably never question the validity of reality. You have never wondered if what you see and believe to be a fixed situation really unfolds in the way it has been firmly implanted in your brain. You just take your view of reality for granted.

You look at the external world and from those observations you draw conclusions about your trading, the state of the world, your relationships, and so forth. You believe that you must respond external events. You believe them to be logical, rigid and difficult to change. In other words:  Your conditioned mind puts external observation first when actually you should be looking inside of you first and notice the internal dialogues you hold with yourself about your trading, world politics, the fed and your relationships, since your generate your reality from those thoughts and the feelings you experience. Those internal dialogues, or should I say the stories your mind creates around your observations produce what you see externally, in your trading and in your life in general.

While you insist on focusing on your fears of losing, your inability to time your trades correctly,  manage your positions properly, keeping your wife happy etc., etc., you are literally putting the proverbial cart on front of the horse.

This habit is rather like looking at the empty water bottle you drunk half an hour ago, with the intention to drink it right now because you are thirsty, not realising that you have already drunk it.  This is precisely how you tackle your (trading) life expecting the get better results.

Put simply, you are thinking back to front

And you are expecting to create new results in your trading and in your life doing something that is now proven not to work. I don’t want to appear trite, reiterating one of Einstein’s much peddled bon mots; however, he really did have it right when he reminded us that we cannot solve the same problems with the same thinking that created them. Yet, this is precisely what we have been doing for a very long time, expecting our trading results to change dramatically.

Now, I can tell you from personal experience, having studied too many trading systems to mention, always with the same results: I got excited only to find that before too long I started losing money again.. My trading changed when I finally looked at myself and learnt what reality is all about. When I began to accept the fact that I alone am the originator and creator of my life, and yes, that took some time to come to terms with, my entire life shifted. Not just my trading.

So what to do?

First of all you must let go of the idea that you need to fix your trading. No, you don’t need to fix your trading, in fact, you don’t really need to fix anything. How can you? You are looking at old stuff that was created yesterday. However, you do need to fix the way you look at your life in general. This requires that you learn a thing or two about how you generate reality, learn a few basic things about quantum physics and understand how this applies to your trading and indeed to your life.

Your refusal to do this and instead carry on with the same old tried and tested paradigms, expecting different results in your trading account, is akin to placing a plaster on a festering wound. Okay, enough said, I am sure you are beginning to get where I am coming from.

Let’s get practical:

Your next intention shouldn’t be about improving your trading, rather it should be about acquiring knowledge. Go where you have not ventured before. Look at all those areas in the field of neuro science and spirituality you have ignored and resisted until now.  Become curious about yourself.  Imagine how you were as a child, looking at the world as an adventure ground, a place of limitless opportunity. Can you remember how you got excited when you discovered something new, how you experienced the world with an innocent, judgement free curiosity?  I bet you will find it challenging to go there, you have been brainwashed and conditioned for so long that you have lost the ability to roam freely in that vast space of your mind. You have forgotten that ultimately the mind is free and that you are free to create from new vantage points of your choosing, not the choosing of someone else.

I am challenging you to go beyond that which has become so well known and comfortable to you that the boredom of it is driving you insane, but it is doing so without your conscious awareness. The lid of the heavy conditioning still weights down so tightly,… yet do you notice how the content in the mental pot beneath the lid is stirring and bubbling away ever more ferociously?

Give yourself space and begin afresh, this time choosing a different path. You already know that the old one isn’t working to well. I know you really want to do it, you are still reading this article.

Intent to move beyond the limited perception of you finite mind and move beyond the known confines of the finite mind into that place of expansion which resides in your heart. This is the seat of growth, creativity and advancement, and, yes it is also the seat of improved trading results.

Imagine what it would feel like to immerse yourself into new material on trading, which comes from a new field of experience, and explore new frontiers through the lens of infinite opportunity, instead of continuing to view your life through the lens of your human limitations and failures. It is one of the very few irrefutable truism of (trading) life that lasting transformation comes through you and your ability to be right up close with yourself. Remember what we said?  You alone are the one who is creating everything you experience. It isn’t the outside world which creates your experiences, alas it is highly likely whenever you experience challenges you are allowing your limiting mind to feed you false information about the universe and about yourself, which you are still processing as true and real.

Isn’t it about time that you woke up and turned over a new leaf?  As the Buddhist proverb says: “When the student is ready the teacher will appear.”
