Initial Claims decreased to 432,000, the lowest figure recorded since July 2008, for the week ending 12/26, less than the expected increase to 461,000, following a decrease to 454,000, the revised figure for the previous week. The 4-week moving average was 460,250, a decrease of 5,500 from the previous week’s revised average of 465,750. Seasonally adjusted insured unemployment from the prior week, ending on 12/19, was 4,981,000, a decrease of 57,000 from the preceding week’s revised level of 5,038,000. Seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate from the week ending on 12/19, was 3.8%, unchanged from the previous week’s revised figure of 3.8%.
