Some days, I receive questions that imply I know the subject of the question. Today is such a day. On these days, when I receive such questions, my action is to infer the subject, and so I will today with the question below.
I have many great mentors now. I have a trading coach, and a system that works well, but I am always looking for more confidence in a system. This is a big investment for me and I’m working hard (3 hours a day) during this evaluation period watching videos, etc. trying to make sure I figure out if this can help – any key insights you’ve learned as to how this can make me a better trader is appreciated.
The subject of the above question is trading software, I believe. Now, if this is the case, and I believe it is, then I do have some insights that might help make you a better trader, as it relates to trading software, any trading software.
- You mention that you have great mentors. What do they have to say about the trading software?
- You mention that you have a trading coach. What does he or she have to say about the trading software?
Now, I ask the above questions because these are the first things I would do if I were in your shoes. If you trust the folks around you, ask them.
- You mention you have “a system that works well” and you are “always looking for more confidence in a system.”
As to my next steps, I would ask myself, if I have a “system” that works well, why do I need something else? You mention confidence, so here is my insight to help you – take a good, long look at your own confidence. It appears to me that you are dependent on others and a system to get you where you want to be as a trader. I have no quarrel with that, necessarily, but at some point, you will have to get up in the morning and start your trading day all by yourself. When that day comes, you must have confidence in you and your abilities, or you will ultimately fail. Instead of relying solely on “outside” things, turn inward, as what is inside you will determine success or failure.
Finally, no trading software is magic. If it guarantees success, end the evaluation and return it. Keep in mind, excellent trading software exists, but you have to know how to trade, how the software works, and, as I said, you have to have confidence in you.
