Yesterday, I had the chance to speak with Dr. John Rutledge. John is a fascinating guy to talk to. Trained as an economist, he runs his own investment firm called Rutledge Capital, but he also advises government officials here in the United States, the U.K., Ireland, Kuwait, and China. I called him because he recently had the unique opportunity of going to North Korea where he’s trying to open the country up to the global market. He also recently wrote a book that I highly recommended called Lessons From a Road Warrior: How I Fell Off a Horse, Earned 15 Million Air Miles, Got Sand in My Shoes and Learned How to Invest.

The audio is a bit muffled at times, but I think it turned out well (especially when he called Tim Geitner the “Doogie Howser” of high finance…and that wasn’t a compliment).

If he’s not on your Twitter radar (and he should be), check him out here. And here’s his blog, which includes notes from his North Korea trip.
