Toy maker Hasbro Inc. (HAS) has won the case it had filed against its rival Buzz Bee Toys Inc. (a toy and game company located in Oakland) for patent violation of its Nerf and Super Soaker brands in June 2010.

The case was filed in the United States Federal Court in Springfield, MA. After five months since the filing of the lawsuit, the judge has pronounced the decision in favor of Hasbro as Buzz Bee Toys was found guilty of having violated the Nerf and Super Soaker water product patents.

The privately held rival company has also accepted that some of its water gun products breach Hasbro’s patent. Buzz Bee Toys has thus been banned from producing or selling any product that uses Hasbro’s Nerf and Super Soaker water product patents.

We are happy that the verdict of the lawsuit has gone in favor of the company. Hasbro previously also claimed some unspecified monetary compensation from the company for the damage done by the illegal use of its patented technology. However, no details have been disclosed regarding the matter.

Hasbro’s primary competitors in the toy and games market include JAKKS Pacific Inc. ( “>JAKK )  and Mattel Inc.(MAT).

Based in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Hasbro is engaged in the design, manufacture and marketing of games and toys. The company principally provides children’s and family leisure-time and entertainment products and services. It offers various games, including traditional board, card, hand-held electronic, trading card, role playing, plug-and-play and DVD games, as well as electronic learning aids and puzzles. The company was founded in 1923.
