Housing Starts in September increased by 0.3% to an annual pace of 610,000 higher than the expected level of 580,000, from the revised figure of 608,000 in August (originally reported at 598,000). Over the year the figure has increased by 4.1% from the September 2009 rate of 586,000. Building Permits decreased by 5.6% over the month to 539,000, lower than the expected level of 575,000, following 571,000 permits annualized in August (originally reported at 569,000). Over the year, Building Permits decreased by 10.9% from the 605,000 pace in September 2009.
