Do you want a Black Card? The American Express Black Card is the ultimate status symbol among the wealthy. The allure of the Black Card is that there is no credit limit. You can charge anything from a Lamborghini to a mansion on your Black Card. It is a titanium credit card that is only available to a select number of cardholders. You have to be invited to apply for membership. It’s easier to get into Fort Knox than to get information on obtaining a Black Card. The company’s website even requires that you log in.

Here are a few facts about the Black Card and how you can become eligible to receive one.

The official name of the Black Card is the American Express Centurion Card. The card has a $2,500 fee that members have to pay annually regardless of usage. There is also a $5,000 initiation fee that needs to be paid for the privilege of joining. The motto for the Black Card is “Rarely Seen, Always Recognized”. It may be difficult to get a Black Card but it is not impossible.

Here’s how you can qualify for a Black Card.

1. Contact American Express.

There was a time that the Black Card was only available to people that American Express sent an invitation too. This is no longer the case. You can call American Express and request an invitation to become a Centurion Cardholder. You will still have to undergo a verification process for approval but you have a shot.

2. Spend $250,000 or more.

You don’t have to make a quarter of a million dollars to get a Black Card; you just have to spend it. The Black Card is for serious consumers only. The minimum amount that you have to spend to qualify is $250,000. Just charge $250,000 and you are eligible for a Centurion Card. If you think this is a lot of money (like I do) then the Black Card is not for you.

3. Get another American Express card.

The best way to get American Express to notice you is to spend a ton of dough via an American Express Card. Getting an American Express Platinum Card will put you one step closer to that elusive Black Card. Remember that if you get denied for an American Express Black Card, then apply for another prestigious card. The more prestigious your credit card, the greater your chances of attaining that sweet piece of Titanium.
