BlackRock Healthcare A (MDHCX) invests at least 80% of its assets in the healthcare sector. The fund focuses on purchasing securities of companies that have the potential for superior earnings growth. It may also invest in foreign and convertible securities, depositary receipts and rights. The fund returned 16.17% over the last one year period.

The BlackRock fund has a minimum initial investment of $1,000 and an expense ratio of 1.62% compared to a category average of 1.97%.

BlackRock Global Emerging Markets A (MDDCX) seeks both capital growth over the long term. The fund primarily invests in equity securities from developing capital markets. It invests in at least three countries at a time. The fund returned 16.68 % in the last one year period and has a ten year annualized return of 10.33%.

Daniel Tubbs is the fund manager and he has managed this BlackRock fund since 2007.

BlackRock International Opportunities A (BREAX) invests the majority of its assets in equity securities of foreign companies regardless of their market capitalization. Up to 30% of its assets may be used to purchase stocks from emerging market countries. It may also invest in companies through IPOs and derivatives. The fund has a five year annualized return of 7.09%.

The BlackRock fund has an expense ratio of 1.68% compared to a category average of 1.41%.

BlackRock Global Allocation A (MDLOX) seeks total return. It invests in domestic and foreign equity and debt securities as well as money market instruments. Up to 35% of its assets may be used to purchase debt securities rated below investment grade. It may also invest in real estate investment trusts. The fund has a ten year annualized return of 7.93%.

As of January 2010, this fund held 553 issues, with 1.76% of its total assets invested in SPDR Gold Shares.

BlackRock Global SmallCap A (MDGCX) invests the majority of its assets in small-cap companies. At least 40% of the fund’s assets are utilized to acquire equity securities of companies which are located abroad or whose primary trading market is outside the U.S. The fund returned 18.26% over the last one year period.
