The defense behemoth General Dynamics Corp. (GD) made another acquisition across the Atlantic. General Dynamics United Kingdom Limited acquired privately-held Kylmar Limited. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
General Dynamics expects the acquisition to be accretive to the company’s 2011 earnings. Kylmar as part of General Dynamics United Kingdom Limited is expected to enhance the company’s intelligence, surveillance, targeting and reconnaissance offerings and capabilities provided within the defense, security and resilience markets.
Based in Andover, Hampshire, Kylmar is an industry leader in the design and manufacture of sensor and optical surveillance systems for military and security applications. The company specializes in the design and manufacture of highly capable electro-optical systems deployed for long periods of time, often operating in harsh environments, where high reliability is essential to successful outcomes.
For nearly two decades, Kylmar has been supplying electro-optic equipment and systems to the UK military intelligence and Special Forces for counter-terrorism applications.
The acquisition of Kylmar is expected to strengthen General Dynamics UK’s C4ISTAR offerings in a wide range of areas. Additionally, General Dynamics expects to benefit from the acquisition by expanding the breadth of its products and services simultaneously for both existing and new customers.
