Analysis and Recommendation:

The NZD/USD is trading above the 80 mark again at 0.8008. Much like its cousin the Aussie, the kiwi is enjoying the dip in the Dollar Index and the overall upbeat feelings in the market after earnings reports buoyed markets and investors ventured into a bit more risk, pushing commodity currencies upwards.

Like the AUD the NZD is trading at record prices against the weak euro.

US Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke stated yesterday that the Fed would follow a similar pattern to previous times when it has provided stimulus to the economy then “pulled back, took away the punch bowl” when growth returned.

He was speaking as the Fed released its Beige Book business survey, which said the world’s biggest economy grew at a “modest to moderate” pace in June and early July.

Helping lift sentiment, US housing starts rose 6.9 per cent last month.
