I am a fan of the markets… the worldwide markets. I hate the idea that we are in some sort of a vacuum when discussing this topics here. But as I look out across the markets I see something strange.

It is my belief that the United States of America is home to the largest and most influential financial market. I am a little biased here, but really, I thought we pretty much dictate the action to the rest of the world.

I see that our equity markets are basically lagging – and by a healthy amount – markets in Asia and in Europe. What gives?

While I write this, the S&P 500 – the main measure of the US market – is up a little less than 1%. At the same time we see Asian markets have closed with gains of more than 1% and the Nikkei 225 closing up more than 2%.

The same is true over in Europe with gains of 2% being common place! There were even two indices with gains of 2.5% or more! Sure the Stockholm 30 is up 2.7% today… but when I see the CAC 40 Index up 2.54% and our market struggling to reach 1% I start to scratch my head.

Am I alone on this one? Who is the dog and who is the tail here?
