The market elicits plenty of opinions, from the wildly bullish views, to the most dour of bearish views, and everything in between. But, for those committed to the market, even the most cynical of investors, it’s been a great time to make money.

However, with the market where it is, are you more focused on growth companies when you’re picking your stocks, or are you paying more attention to discounted value type stocks? Or, is it dividends that you’re after?

In addition to that, what item(s) specifically are driving your stock picking decisions? In other words, what are the one or few itens that you look for now to ultimately buy or sell a stock?

Lately, for me, I’ve been looking for stocks enjoying institutional buying, while also displaying increased margins. As for valuations, the most important thing for me is the price to sales ratio. When it comes down to a tie-breaker, that’s the deciding factor for me.

I love asking this stock picking question, because the responses are usually quite varied and always interesting. And not only does it help the person crystalize theie own stock picking process, it can provide lots of great ideas to consider as well.

This is a pretty informal survey, but could be a very enlightening read, as more people share their thoughts.

So please share your favorite items.

And be sure to check back throughout the day to see how others are picking their winners. Could be a great idea generator.

Thanks.
