Here’s a few more details on the use of the TrendX indicator…shown here on the Qs….an index not known for easy technical analysis. Note the position of the vertical marker line on the chart at Oct. 7th…a date when the HLC Trend and the Detrend both cross the zero line to the upside. This corresponds to the TrendX BUY trigger and you can see how that trade played out. There are several ways to finesse the exits…in this case we use a simple fixed bar to close the positions, whether long or short. The performance report displays the trading results for 1 share of the Qs. Later in the week we’ll examine some coding variations for the TrendX as well as some exit options. This is a simple indicator that has proven itself robust and adaptable to analyzing many indices and large caps.
