Forexpros – European stocks were down after the closing bell on Tuesday.

At the close of European trade, Germany’s DAX fell 1.22%, London’s FTSE 100 shed 0.30%, France’s CAC 40 declined 0.84% and the EURO STOXX 50 was down 1.09%.

Earlier in the day, preliminary official data showed that Gross domestic product in the U.S. rose less-than-expected to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 2.0% in the last quarter from 2.5% in the preceding quarter.

Analysts had expected U.S. gross domestic product to rise 2.5% in the last quarter.

Meanwhile, on Wall Street, equity markets were mixed after the open. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.02%; the S&P 500 index gained 0.08%, while the Nasdaq 100 index climbed 0.32%.
