Forexpros – U.S. stocks were up after the closing bell on Friday.

At the close of U.S. trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.13%, the S&P 500 index gained 0.53%, while the Nasdaq 100 index climbed 0.65%.

Earlier in the day, preliminary data showed that U.S. UoM consumer sentiment fell more-than-expected to a seasonally adjusted 54.9 last month from 63.7 in the preceding month.

Analysts had expected UoM consumer sentiment to fall to 63.0 last month.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, European stock markets closed higher. France’s CAC 40 was up 4.02%; Germany’s DAX gained 3.45%; Britain’s FTSE 100 climbed 3.04%; and the EURO STOXX 50 rose 4.15%.
