Heard a true story once, a guy in his 70’s, always been an honest hard working average Joe. One day well into his twilight years, he walks into a bank, holding a 38, and announces this is a holdup. Tellers stack up several bags filled with bills, and he only takes one and flees the scene.
He didnt wear a mask and was easily identified and arrested sitting on his couch that day watching tv.
IN his possession was the entire 32k he’d took from the bank.
He admits to his crime during interrogation, and the detective ask him why, would you do this joe.
Joe informs them a week earlier, his doctor had found a defective heart valve, and his share for the surgery would be in the 10’s of thousands of dollars, if not done within a couple years, he’d be dead.
So the detective ask, is that why you only took 30k ? Was it all you needed. Hell No joe responds, I didnt want any of the banks money, but my lawyer son in law, said federal prisoners get free healthcare, and if I was in federal prison, I’d get the surgery for free.
