2AVSC_chart.pngAdvanced Visual Systems Inc. (PINK:AVSC) is one of the stocks on the OTC which is seldom traded most of the time. The last couple of days, however, there was some activity.

The previous session AVSC closed at $0.101, 6.32% up. The volume was impressive – 879,426 shares changed hands.

It should be pointed out that, according to FINRA, more than 50% of that volume was a result of short trades.

The last time AVSC had a significant price move on an impressive volume was back in December, 2010. The increased volume didn’t last long and seemed to be due to a promotion.[BANNER]

Similarly, there is a promotional campaign for AVSC now. Apart from the usual newsletter approach, there is a promotion through iHub posts.

While PRs and financial reports in between promotions sometimes manage to move the price of AVSC, the volume seems to come only on promotions. This could explain some of the shorting interest.

AVSC_logo.gifThe company hasn’t issued any news since Apr. 27 and the most recent quarterly was published on May 16. It will be interesting to see if the excitement will last longer this time.
