82WMNS-logo.pngPast peculiar track record, dozens of paid promotions, great press releases and still below $0.1 – the typical pink sheet. This is Westmont Resources Inc.(PINK:WMNS). The hot topic right now – oil production begins. The hot topic overall – would this company turn out ok, or follow the pattern of past enterprises sharing similar figures in the management board? The results after yesterday’s press release are optimistic, yet not exceptional. The increase in the stock price is 12.5% as a little more than 1 million shares exchanged hands. Not much, compared to the promotions-fueled explosion in the beginning of May. Actually, as usual for Westmont, there is a promotion that came out with the press release yesterday as well. Yet, it is a pattern of decline that has been going on for quite some time now, despite all the press releases and paid promotions. One reason for this lack of confidence in investors might be the results from the quarterly statements. Another – issues with the current CEO of Westmont – Mr. Bruce Fischer. Apparently, he served as a Chairman and member of the board in at least two other enterprises, which did not turn that well. An iHub poster describes the situation well.

Indeed, as far as stock promotions are concerned, the cash paid by third parties might soon surpass $1 million, which could be another reason for caution to be applied. After all, third parties have their own motivation and goals, which often vary to a great extent from the interests of regular shareholders. [BANNER]

Nevertheless, it is company performance, after all, that should be of concern, not manipulative newsletters distorting the real value of the stock. Since production has begun, the next quarterly statements could include better figures than the last one. If this happens, it might be possible to reverse the negative trend on the stock market. If not, WMNS would remain a stock affected heavily by promotions and speculative claims, in terms, creating a high level of uncertainty for its future.
