Veolia Environnement (VE) announced that it has entered into alliances with some of the most innovative startups in the cleantech sector through its Veolia Innovation Accelerator (“VIA“) program. Veolia had launched this program a year back to encourage innovation in eco technologies.

Veolia’s VIA program approaches to achieve its goal in three steps. First, the program aims to detect emerging technologies through a network of partnerships with universities, institutes and industries.

Second, the agenda is to design, develop and integrate clean technologies if the market need cannot be met by existing solutions. The final step of the program requires the optimization and integration of new technologies into Veolia’s business proposals and processes, and field implementation support.

Since the initiation of the VIA program last year, around 200 applications have so far been evaluated by the company, resulting in five partnerships till date.

Some of the partners are France-based Envolure, specializing in the design and marketing of environmental analysis kit; Canada-based Ostara Nutrient Recovery Technologies Inc., a leader in nutrient recovery and producer of environmentally friendly fertilizer; and CoSMo Company, a developer of an innovative software platform to model and simulate complex systems that provide original solutions for sustainable cities.

We appreciate the initiatives adopted by Veolia through its VIA program. The company not only aims to develop eco technology on a global scale but helps its partners, startups mostly, to eliminate the risks associated with technology development, adoption and execution, if they were to do it all alone.
