Airgas Inc. (ARG) announced Tony Simonetta as the new President of Airgas East, who will report to Shaun Powers, the President of Airgas Eastern Division. Fred Manley is the former President who has been replaced by Simonetta. Manley joined the Company’s national sales leadership team as Vice President – technology and services markets.

Simonetta has worked for 20 years in almost all the diverse fields and functions. As a President of Airgas East, Simonetta will now lead 1,000 employees working across 100 locations. This region looks after the markets of New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and northern Virginia.

Simonetta’s association with the company is six years old, when he joined as an Area Sales Manager, with the acquisition of Brin’s Oxygen Company (BOC)’s U.S. packaged gas business in 2004. In 2007, he had been appointed as Area Vice President for the eastern Pennsylvania area of Airgas East. Before joining Airgas, Simonetta has a 17 years working history with BOC Gases, where he progressed from local warehouse Sales Manager to operating manager position.

In addition, the company also appointed Frederick E. Manley as the Vice President of company’s technology and services markets. Manley will report to Ron Stark, who is a senior Vice President of sales and marketing. The role of the position is to concentrate on the customers with technology-driven products and after-market services.

Manley has an experience of more than 25 years in the industrial gas and equipment business. He will now manage the company’s customers who manufacture products such as electrical machinery, advanced power storage, aerospace & defense, electronics, medical and scientific equipment, and large-scale pharmaceuticals.

Manley joined the company in 2001 as Sales Manager for the northern New England region. After taking up several roles in the organization he became the President of Airgas East in 2007. Before joining the company, he worked with independent distributor WESCO from 1992 till it was acquired by AGA in 1997.

Pennsylvania-based Airgas and its subsidiaries collectively distribute industrial, medical, and specialty gases that are delivered in packaged or cylinder form, along with welding, safety, and related products, such as hard goods, in the United States. Airgas also produces dry ice, liquid carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, process chemicals, and other specialty gases for distribution throughout the United States. Airgas competes with Air Products (APD) and L’Air Liquide SA.
