Initial Claims decreased to 382,000, for the week ending 04/02, lower than the expected decrease to 385,000, after decreasing to 392,000, the revised level for the previous week. The 4-week moving average decreased to 389,500, from the previous week’s revised average of 395,250. Seasonally adjusted insured unemployment from the prior week, ending on 03/26, was 3,723,000, a decrease of 9,000 from the preceding week’s revised level of 3,732,000. Seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate from the week ending on 03/26, was 3.0%, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised figure of 3.0%.
Consumer Credit figures are to be released today at 3:00 PM EST. Consumer credit had increased at an annual rate of 2.5% in January. Revolving credit had decreased at an annual rate of 6.5%, and non-revolving credit increased at an annual rate of 7%.
