The Consumer Confidence Index increased to 57.9 (1985=100) in April after increasing to 52.3% in March from 46.4% in February. The index was expected to increase with the consensus at 52.6%. The Present Situation Index increased to 28.6 from 25.2 last month. The Expectations Index increased to 77.4 from 70.4 in March. Consumers concerns about current market conditions eased and the short-term outlook was also brighter in April.
