Arrow Electronics Inc. (ARW) announced that its business segment Enterprise Computing Solutions (ECS) has been named an authorized professional service partner (APSP) in the NetApp partner program in Denmark, France, Germany and the U.K.

The APSP authorisation enables Arrow to offer professional services for hardware and software in addition to its NetApp storage solutions portfolio. It includes solution suites, assessment services, installation and implementation, design and consulting, as well as managed services. It also allows Arrow to offer the same level of engineering expertise on storage infrastructure design as NetApp offers.

Additionally, Arrow recently expanded its licensing agreement with Microsoft (MSFT) in Latin America. Arrow is now authorized to sell embedded software licenses on Microsoft’s range of products and services, from hand-held devices to servers, in Latin America.

Management stated that this expansion will extend its geographic reach, along with helping customers save time and resources by providing both the software and hardware for their comprehensive solutions needs.

Earlier, the company reported dismal results for the second quarter of 2009 as weak global demand continue to hit the top line. Although both bookings and billings showed an increase for the quarter and backlog is up for the first time in several quarters, rival Avnet Inc. (AVT) maintained that the deteriorating top line has yet to find a bottom and visibility still remains limited. In particular, business conditions in Europe remain challenging.

We maintain our Neutral rating on ARW stock.
