Arrow Electronics (ARW) has recently expanded its BeMicro SDK (Software Development Kit) platform to BeMicro SDK Motor Control kit, supporting the development of a motor-control design within a single Field-programmable Gate Array (FPGA) device.

BeMicro SDK uses the USB stick format and its benefits include compact size, low cost, reference designs, software templates, self-guided materials and expanded software design features.

Based on the technology provided by the company’s partners including Altera Corporation (ALTR), Linear Technology Corporation (LLTC) and SLS, the new evaluation platform BeMicro SDK Motor Control kit reaches out to simple motor-control designs as well as innumerable embedded and industrial applications.

This new kit comprises DC and stepper motors, reference designs and step-by-step instructions.

Moreover, the company will provide hands-on workshops worldwide, which commences from August 2011. With the help of the demonstrations of the new solution, the attendees can develop and implement their own motor-control algorithms and applications.

New York based Arrow Electronics Inc., is a distributors of electronic components and enterprise computing products. The company competes directly with Avnet Inc. (AVT).

Arrow’s offerings in the electronic components and enterprise computing solutions distribution industries along with a wide range of value-added services help customers reduce their time to market, lower their total cost of ownership, introduce innovative products through demand creation opportunities, and enhance their overall competitiveness.

As volumes ramp up, we believe that there will be an improvement in demand and margins. We continue to have a long-term Outperform recommendation on the stock. However, the stock carries a Zacks #3 Rank, which translates into a short-term rating of Hold.
