You might wonder what the heck I am talking about in this headline? Well: In a nutshell, as a trader, investor and as a human being focus on yourself! Yes, that’s right: on YOURSELF. Far from being selfish it is the greatest gift you can give to yourself, your family and friends and last but not least the world.

On my path of to trading success I learnt the simplest and most profound truth that permeates everything and is one of the four pillars of good trading psychology: Namely you judge nothing and observe instead. As a result you acquire much self knowledge, your mind becomes more peaceful, you notice much more and you create a better world too.

Together these pieces will dramatically improve not only your trading success’s, but also your life in general.

I am not advocating that you should like war, suffering or any other kind of hardship, however I am asking you to stay out of other people’s businesses and learn to recognise your own boundaries and learn to respect those of others. A big issue all traders have, even those who have traded for years is to distinguish between their own thoughts, feelings emotions and opinions and those picked up from other people, the news media and the collective energetic filed in general. All the above has a much bigger impact on the formation of your beliefs than you may be conscious of. In fact you are for the most part not trading your personal psychology and what is right for you personally, rather you are unwittingly constantly tuning into the opinions you read, and see in the media, making them your own, trading from the illusion that you are trading your own style and trading psychology.

Learning to distinguish between your own energetic field and that of other people is a big job that takes much awareness and regular practice. It is a game changer for your trading psychology, your trading and your life when you finally succeed at this.

We are all the same; I got the idea for this article from my face book stream where I saw a comment from another trader who was condemning the actions America is considering against Syria. While I have no doubt for a moment that his concern is indeed well intended, he fails to understand one of the major laws of the universe which affects our reality: Namely:

You get what you focus on, and not what you want.

In other words, whenever you condemn something, or judge in any other way, that which you judge gets locked into reality. All judgements are limiting, while receiving with an open mind is expansive. This is why you must learn to trade from a place of “no mind” if you choose to become a consistently successful trader who is also happy with life, in all situations. I know these are big words and they may even sound somewhat contrived. Yet, they are the simplest truth, yet for the average person to get this is a massive challenge.

The aim of trading mastery is to empty the trading mind of emotional content which after all said and done, is mostly content picked up from other people, the collective conditioning and not your own. You just process it as if it is your own stuff.

I have written about this in my book “The Buddhist Trader” and am covering the subject of immersion in our beliefs in great depth in my new on-line course: The Buddhist Traders’ Advanced Techniques For Trading And Investment Success. When you understand how reality is made up through illusion and that the individuals’ perception is the only relevant truth you are going to develop a trading edge tailored to your unique personality. It will bring you trading success and happiness as well. What else is there in life?
