Avnet, Inc. (AVT) announced that it would acquire certain assets of PT Datamation Purwana Utama and PT Mitra Bisinfo Utama (Datamation) of Indonesia.
Datamation is a value-added IT distributor providing server, storage and software products to enterprise system integrators and resellers throughout Indonesia. Datamation distributes a range of IT infrastructure products from leading suppliers including APC, HP, IBM, Lenovo NetApp and VMware from its headquarters in Jakarta and a sales office in Surabaya.
Datamation employs more than 175 people supporting 1,400 value-added resellers and generated $60 million in 2009.
This acquisition is expected to expand Avnet’s footprint and customer base in ASEAN for value-added IT distribution and accelerate growth in the emerging markets of Asia.
Management intends to increase its exposure in these fast growing markets and build on its global supplier relationships which in turn should drive growth as the economy revives.
Last week, Avnet announced its acquisition of Bell Microproducts Inc. (BELM). Bell is a leading value-added distributor of storage and computing technology. The company has over 1,900 employees and offers a broad suite of integration and support services to OEMs, VARs, system builders and end-users through 55 offices in the United States, Canada, Europe and Latin America.
Avnet expects that the acquisition will give an opportunity to develop the storage and computing solutions business along with expanding its presence in the fast-growing Latin America market.
Based in Phoenix, AZ, Avnet is one of the world’s largest distributors of electronic components and computer products.
