JBS SA, the world’s largest beef processor, said on July 7 that it no longer plans to buy Sara Lee assets because they have become too expensive. Sara Lee is in the process of breaking up the company into two $4 billion companies to boost shareholder value. Sara Lee, with a market cap of $11 billion, is a global manufacturer and marketer of high-quality, brand-name products for consumers throughout the world. The company’s mission is to continue to build leadership brands in consumer packaged goods categories, with well-known brands including Sara Lee, Earth Grains, Jimmy Dean, Douwe Egberts, Chock full o’ Nuts, Hanes and Playtex.
