In this video (see below), Energy Guru from TheStreet.com, Daniel Dicker, confirms his bullish thesis on Natural Gas. I had a few questions for Dan to feel out his own short-term thinking and how he is positioning his energy portfolio.
Rather than ask if a specific company is a buy, I prefer to ask what people are doing with their own money. It is easy to say a company is a buy but when it is not backed by their own money, you know they personally feel something else is a better buy. Basically, you know how strong their beliefs are when you see it backed up by their own money, whether they are in a stock or lightening up their holdings. Per the video, Dan has obviously dumped deep water drilling companies, as they will continue to be pressured during this BP plc (BP) disaster. Dan, while not calling this a buy, seems bullish on Exxon Mobil (XOM) though, based on current prices. Personally, I wanted to go a bit more speculative, and went with Gastar Exploration (GST) for Natural Gas and Kodiak Oil (KOG) for my oil play. I like both charts, per my recent analysis. For less risky picks, I’d go with Dan Dicker’s choices in the video and last week’s video.
