Forexpros – Canadian wholesale sales unexpectedly declined in June, decreasing for the first time in five months, official data showed on Tuesday.
In a report, Statistics Canada said wholesale sales fell by 0.1% in June, confounding expectations for a 0.4% increase.
Wholesale sales rose by an unrevised 0.9% in May.
Canadian wholesale sales totaled CAD49.9 billion in June.
Following the release of the data, the Canadian dollar remained higher against its U.S. counterpart, with USD/CAD shedding 0.23% to trade at 0.9861.
