The increased usage of smartphones and tablets has induced Comcast Corporation (CMCSA) to enhance its service offerings by introducing two new unlimited messaging services for its Xfinity Voice plan subscribers.

The subscriber of the Xfinity Voice service will not only be able to send unlimited text messages across U.S., but can also receive transcribed voicemail messages from their home phone devices. In addition, the subscribers will also get a notification once they receive the text message.

The user of iPhone/iPad and Andriod smartphones can easily access this service by downloading the Xfinity Mobile application on their smartphones and tablets. Moreover, the customer of the Xfinity voice plan can also gain access to this above mentioned services from Xfinity website.

In 2012, Comcast is set to offer several innovative products, including nationwide roll out of Xcalibur (rebranded as X1) services, various home security services like the remote control of heating and cooling pattern of the home, expansion of Wi-Fi network, and introduction of a plethora of new contents for multi-platform on-demand services.

Recently, Comcast launched its major innovative product called Xfinity Streampix, a subscription based on-demand video streaming services. This is a significant augmentation of the company’s pay-TV offerings, which currently provides traditional TV shows and Xfinity on-demand shows for TV sets and broadband enabled devices.

With Xfinity Streampix, a customer can instantly view movies and TV shows whether he/she is in or out of the home on multiple platforms, e.g., TV sets, Computers, and mobile devices.

Currently, the U.S. pay-TV industry is reaching its saturation level. Moreover, the pay-TV industry is facing huge competition from large telecom carriers like Verizon Communication Inc. (VZ) and AT&T (T), who are offering their pay-TV services along with other bundled products at favorable rates.

Therefore, we believe that the introduction of such an array of products will help them not only to combat the competition by retaining customers but will also add different revenue streams to the company’s business model

Currently, we are maintaining our long-term Neutral recommendation on Comcast. Comcast has a Zacks #3 Rank, implying a short-term Hold rating on the stock.

Based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Comcast Corporation offers various consumer entertainment, information and communication products and services to the residential and commercial customers.
