• Ciena Corp. (NASDAQ:CIEN) reported a Q1 loss of $0.14 per share, lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate of a loss of $0.30 per share

• Urban Outfitters (NASDAQ:URBN) reported Q4 EPS of $0.45, lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.52 per share. Revenues for the quarter rose 14% year-over-year to $668.4 million, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $674.0 million

• James River Coal Co (NASDAQ:JRCC) reported plans to buy International Resource Partners from Atlas Energy LP (NYSE:AHD) for $475 million in cash. The deal will help James River to increase its production and shipments of metallurgical coal

• Radiosurgery firm Accuray Inc (NASDAQ:ARAY) announced that it would buy TomoTherapy Inc (NASDAQ:TOMO), a provider of advanced radiation-therapy solutions for $277 million, or $4.80 a share, in cash and stock

• Computer hard-drive maker Western Digital Corp (NYSE:WDC) agreed to acquire Hitachi Global Storage Technologies from Hitachi Ltd (NYSE:HIT) for about $3.5 billion in cash and 25 million Western Digital shares

• Repligen Corp’s (NASDAQ:RGEN) development drug RG2417, formulated to treat the depressive symptoms of bipolar disorder, failed to show a statistically significant improvement for patients in a Phase 2b trial when compared with a placebo

• William Blair & Co downgraded Monster Worldwide Inc (NYSE:MWW) from “outperform” to “market perform” rating

• Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) analyst John Glass upgraded Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) from “Equal-Weight” to “Overweight” rating saying that the company is ready for “grande” growth

• UBS (NYSE:UBS) analyst David Palmer upgraded Brinker International (NYSE:EAT) from “Neutral” to “Buy” rating
