• Procter & Gamble (NYSE:PG) reported fiscal first quarter earnings $0.02 better than expected at $1.02 on a 1.6% revenue gain to $20.1 billion, just below Zacks estimates of $20.2 billion. The company said it sees fiscal 2011 guidance earnings of $3.91 to $4.01

• Whirlpool (NYSE:WHR) reported third quarter earnings of $2.22, in-line with Zacks estimates, on inline revenues of $4.5 billion. The company said it sees full-year earnings of $9.56 to $10.06 a share

• International Paper (NYSE:IP) reported third quarter earnings of $0.91, $0.13 better than Zacks estimates, on revenues of $6.7 billion, versus Zacks estimates of $6.5 billion

• Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) posted third quarter results of $0.32, versus Zacks expectations of $0.30, on a 7.3% revenue gain to $9.5 billion, topping estimates of $9.4 billion

• Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) missed Zacks estimates by $0.02 with a third quarter loss of $0.30 as revenues gained 1.4% to $8.2 billion, beating estimates for $8 billion

• Office Depot (NYSE:ODP) reported third quarter earnings of $0.03, versus Zacks estimates for a $0.01 loss

• General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) reported better-than-expected earnings of $1.70, beating Zacks estimates of $1.64 as revenues rose 3.8% to $8 billion, below Zacks expectations for $8.4 billion

• Goldman Sachs’ (NYSE:GS) ratings changes to its utilities sector included addition of Wisconsin Energy (NYSE:WEC) to its Conviction Buy List. American Electric Power (NYSE:AEP) was upgraded to “buy” from “neutral.” Public Service Enterprise (NYSE:PEG) went from Conviction Buy to “neutral,” and Exelon (NYSE:EXC) from “neutral” to “sell”
