• Constellation Energy Group (NYSE:CEG) reported an earnings miss as third quarter results posted at $0.48, $0.16 under Zacks expectations on in-line revenues of $4 billion, down 1.5%

• Aon Corp. (NYSE:AON) reported a third quarter earnings of $0.61, below Zacks estimates of $0.66, on in-line revenues of $1.8 billion, up 1.2% YoY

• Merck (NYSE:MRK) reported better-than-expected earnings of $0.85, beating Zacks estimates of $0.83, on revenues of $11.1 billion, just short of Zacks estimates at $11.2 billion

• Calpine (NYSE:CPN) posted estimate-topping, third quarter results of $0.45, up from Zacks estimates of $0.39, on revenues of $2.13 billion that was just above estimates of $2.12 billion

• DTE Energy (NYSE:DTE) reported in-line sales and earnings for the third quarter, with profits of $0.96 and revenues of $2.14 billion

• Amerigroup (NYSE:AGP) reported sharply above Zacks estimates with third quarter earnings of $1.68, versus estimates of $0.81, on revenues of $1.49 billion, above Zacks estimates of $1.46 billion

• JP Morgan (NYSE:JPM) upgraded VIVUS (NASDAQ:VVUS) to “overweight” from “neutral,” and lifted its price target from $6 to $13

• Sony (NYSE:SNE) posted earnings for its fiscal second quarter of $0.37, beating Zacks estimates by $0.29, on revenues of $20.9 billion, above estimates of $20.8 billion
