Delta Airlines – Now I Understand Why NWA was Called ‘North Worst’
Delta Airlines (DAL) cancelled my flight from Detroit to Columbia, SC 15 minutes before departure without any explanation — it may have been that the crew was missing. They booked an alternate flight after 10 hours wait without giving any expenses for transportation or alternate credit.
The airline charges $75 when you want a change plus difference. Now the airline saved fuel and just fitted passengers to alternate flights, and Delta refused to provide any credit for the inconvenience and expenses for alternate transportation.
Jackie, the Delta manager, offered to throw the ticket in garbage can if I did not accept the alternate ticket. Meaning the airline has no responsibility for their failures. This was not act of God situation.
The customer service manager said Delta has no other responsibility except get you an alternate ticket. Airline saved fuel expenses and crew cost to say the least and they said they are not responsible. They just fitted passengers in alternate empty slot — some hopping three different connections — Detroit to Chicago to Atlanta and then to Columbia. It was a direct flight of 1 hour 50 minutes! Then they charge customer for snacks on 3 flights — meaning the airline has a way to charge you every way.
Why do they charge extra when a customer asks for change?
NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY GOVERNMENT AND OTHERS HAVE TO STEP IN TO BALANCE THE HIGH HANDED WAY OF HANDLING CUSTOMER PROBLEMS.
Customers do not count — period — with Delta, or should I say ex-Northwest or North Worst airline.
