Spirits seem high at Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK), as CEO Stephen Elop expressed a firm position on not switching mobile OS and sticking with Windows Phone 8.

9NOK_chart.pngThe market seems content with the developments. Yesterday Nokia closed up 6.02% and today it’s up another 1.48% in the first fifteen minutes.

The anticipation of the launch of Nokia’s new generation Lumia smartphones is building up as the company together with its partner Microsoft announced they will be hosting an event on September 5 in New york. Details on the purpose of the event were not disclosed, giving rise to suspicions that it may be the launch of the new line.

Chris Weber, President and Head of Markets, North America, poured more oil in the fire with a Twitter post saying: “Samsung take note, next generation Lumia coming soon. #nokia”

In the mean time, a photo was leaked, supposedly of a front panel of the new smartphones. It differs greatly from the photo leaked previously.
