Emerson Electric Company
(EMR) has acquired Innovative Control Systems Inc, a company providing engineering solutions inclusive of planning, designing and installation of control systems for steam and combustion turbines. Financial details were not disclosed.

Innovative Control Systems has supplied operational control retrofitting assemblies on turbines manufactured by General Electric Co. (GE), Siemens AG (SI), Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corporation (UTX), Alstom, Rolls Royce, and Solar, among others.

Innovative’s products have lower emissions, enhanced efficiency and less capital requirement. Emerson will gain access to complementary solutions for its patented turbine protection systems, equipment and associated instrumentation. It will also acquire the expertise necessary to meet industrial demand for automation engineering.

Emerson combines industry knowledge, manufacturing expertise and technological innovation to offer a broad portfolio of products and services to its customers across a broad range of industries.

With a global workforce of more than 140,000 employees and 265 manufacturing facilities, Emerson has the infrastructure, knowledge and expertise to deliver its technology and product solutions to customers around the world.

However, many of the company’s locations are outside the United States and therefore run the risk of disrupted production, causing delays in shipment. Substantial sales abroad are subject to economic shocks. Results of operations may also be adversely affected by foreign currency fluctuations.

We currently have a Neutral recommendation on Emerson Electric Company.
