Two of my long-term risk models are now signaling market transition warnings for the weeks ahead — more on this in a follow-on post tomorrow. Meanwhile, for a week that sure “felt” volatile, looking back I still find it surprising that nearly all sectors, with the notable exception of the Apple (AAPL) driven Technology (XLK) sector, finished higher.

Indeed, the S&P 500 (SPY) finished up +0.6%. And for all the overseas rumblings, the EFA also finished higher a solid +2.2%, even as Spain held back the EEM, which was nevertheless up about +0.4%. Wednesday’s FOMC rate release will no doubt be a primary focus next week.
