Analysis and Recommendations:
The EUR/USD is miraculously trading at 1.3266 up over 1.04%, all based on Greece
According to the Financial Times, Papademos has submitted a “final draft” of the terms of the bailout to party leaders, who are set to decide on the measures later Tuesday. Why this news has given the euro enough strenght to move to such an extreme high makes no sense, but as soon as investors settle down we will see the euro fall against the USD to under the 1.32 number. There is no reason to even believe this is the end, or if the EU, ECB or the IMF will accept this new plan, or if Germany will leave it stand as is.
This is just one small step in a very long walk that needs to be completed very quickly.
German data showed a 2.9% drop in the nation’s industrial output during December. Economists were expecting just a 0.1% decline. This alone should have pulled the euro down, as the Eurozone is look at Germany as the engine to pull them from this recession.
