Forexpros – European stocks were up after the closing bell on Friday.
At the close of European trade, Germany’s DAX rose 0.89%, London’s FTSE 100 gained 1.17%, France’s CAC 40 climbed 0.97% and the EURO STOXX 50 was up 0.98%.
Earlier in the day, official data showed that retail sales in the U.S. rose more-than-expected to a seasonally adjusted 1.1% last month, from 0.3% in the preceding month whose figure was revised up from 0.0%.
Analysts had expected retail sales to rise 0.5% last month.
Meanwhile, on Wall Street, equity markets were up after the open. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.84%; the S&P 500 index gained 1.00%, while the Nasdaq 100 index climbed 1.10%.
