Forexpros – European stocks were up after the closing bell on Wednesday.
At the close of European trade, Germany’s DAX rose 2.25%, London’s FTSE 100 gained 1.15%, France’s CAC 40 climbed 1.38% and the EURO STOXX 50 was up 1.42%.
Earlier in the day, official data showed that The rate of unemployment in Germany rose unexpectedly to a seasonally adjusted 7.0% last month from 6.9% in the preceding month.
Analysts had expected German unemployment rate to remain unchanged at 6.9% last month.
Meanwhile, on Wall Street, equity markets were up after the open. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 1.31%; the S&P 500 index gained 1.25%, while the Nasdaq 100 index climbed 0.50%.
