Forexpros – European stocks were down after the closing bell on Monday.
At the close of European trade, Germany’s DAX fell 3.23%, London’s FTSE 100 shed 2.77%, France’s CAC 40 declined 3.16% and the EURO STOXX 50 was down 3.13%.
Earlier in the day, official data showed that The unemployment rate in the euro zone rose unexpectedly to a seasonally adjusted 10.2% last month from 10.1% in the preceding month whose figure was revised up from 10.0%.
Analysts had expected the unemployment rate to remain unchanged at 10.0% last month.
Meanwhile, on Wall Street, equity markets were down after the open. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 1.23%; the S&P 500 index shed 1.32%, while the Nasdaq 100 index declined 0.86%.
