My phone has been useless for about a week, now, and I have to tell you, it is a drag. I have spoken with the phone company three times, and yesterday, a repairman was scheduled to come to the ranch between eight and twelve (you know this one). No show! I called again, and they told me the repairman was working on the line and the problem would be fixed by end of day. Good morning world … and still no phone. I can’t wait for my next bill, as it will most definitely, without a doubt, a 100% certainty, show a price discount for the week I have had no service. Oh, and the stock market promises to be nice from now on …

Frustration is a part of life. We deal with it all the time, especially in the services that we rely on in our daily move through life. For those of us who trade, frustration is a part of life, especially when the outcomes are not what we envisioned as we put our money down.

I recently lost 30% of my account balance. I use tight stops and risk management, but still I am losing. … I was recently doing well, with a very good profit, but in a matter of weeks, I am down a lot. This keeps on happening …

Can you feel the frustration in his words? I can, and I relate on both a trading level and a life level. The truth is I can offer nothing to relieve the frustration. I can say, though, maybe he should not be trading these volatile markets, as they only promise more frustration.

Every time the market pulls back (like the recent large pullback), my positions either get knocked out or I am left with losses.

The current of frustration runs deep in this man, and the source of the flow is his inability to figure out how to trade these markets, yet he continues to trade.

How can I get rid of my emotions and be at peace with my mind. I know these are only feelings so I can choose to release them or not. I feel very depressed with this loss. I just want to feel better. I want to feel I am able to bring it back.

His frustration has moved to a deeper, more dangerous place, a place that saps your strength and twists your mind. This dark place robs you of the most important sense in trading – a positive sense of self. The negative energy of this place steals your confidence, leaving you feeling helpless

I seem to have lost confidence.

Eventually, you look upward and stretch, stretch to reach some light, any light at all.

Any tips or answers would be helpful.

Look to your head and your heart. Your head should tell you, “Back off your trading. Take a break.” Your heart should tell you, “Let it go …” I will tell you, “Trade in the day; invest in your life …”

In this state, you are not only losing money trading, you are losing a part of your personal investment, an important part of yourself, an integral part of your life.
