Analysis and Recommendations:
The GBP/USD will end the day trading up at 1.5547 adding 0.0041. Sterling has gained 0.2% from yesterday’s close despite increasing expectations for policy easing from the BoE. Some market participants are expecting that BoE Governor King will use his speech this evening to highlight his preference for a new round of monetary easing, this time aimed at alleviating the cost of borrowing for both households and businesses. The measures are expected to include an easing of liquidity rules in order to free up the financial sector’s balance sheet and allow for increased lending.
Also in early US trading several eco reports were released all having lackluster data, ranging from an increase in unemployment claims, to a drop in CPI, supporting a slowdown in the US economy.
There has been little in the way of eco data from the UK, leaving sterling to move on USD sentiment.
