The ISM Manufacturing Index increased to 57.0 in December, following a decrease to 56.6 in November from the 56.9 level in October. The index indicated growth for the 20th consecutive month in the overall economy, as well as expansion in the manufacturing sector for the 17th consecutive month.
 
Construction Spending increased by 0.4% to $ 810.2 billion during November, against the expected 0.1% increase, after increasing by 0.7% in October. Year over year, construction spending had declined by 6.0% from the November 2009 estimate of $860.5 billion.
