Eastman Kodak Company (EK) and Imagine Business Machines, LLC (IBML), a document imaging solutions entity based in Alabama, U.S.A., have recently signed an agreement to expand their global reseller and worldwide service relationships.
Based in New York, Eastman Kodak Company provides imaging technology products and services to the photographic and graphic communications markets across the globe.
Under the new agreement, the reseller and service and support network will serve customers in Kodak’s Asia Pacific Region.
In 2005, Kodak’s Document Imaging business and IBML began a joint reseller program to serve customers in Europe, Middle East and Africa. The new agreement is an expansion of the earlier program. KODAK Service and Support will continue to provide coverage for the entire portfolio of IBML document imaging scanners and software packages in the United States and Canada.
Earlier this month, Kodak completed the acquisition of the relief plates business of Tokyo Ohka Kogyo Co., Ltd.
Tokyo Ohka Kogyo’s relief plate business provides flexography, letterpress, Braille, molding plate products and other products. According to the terms of the agreement, Tokyo Ohka Kogyo will transfer its manufacturing plant located in Yamanashi Prefecture to Eastman Kodak.
The relief plate business is now a part of Kodak’s Prepress Solutions business, as Yamanashi RPB Supply Company. Consequently, 100 employees of Tokyo Ohka Kogyo’s relief plates business joined Eastman Kodak.
Management expects that the acquisition will enable Kodak to serve its customers in the packaging industry and support Kodak to achieve its target of doubling revenues in the industry by 2012.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Kodak operates in a highly competitive market, with intense competition for digital products, films and services. The company faces stiff competition from Canon Inc. (CAJ), Sony Corp. (SNE) and FUJIFILM Holdings Corp.
